NATUROPATHY
Naturopathy is a system of alternative medicine that uses natural remedies to promote self-healing and improve health. The ultimate approach of naturopathy towards any disease is to address the root cause and eliminate it by providing the right support that the body needs. Rather than just addressing the symptoms of disease alone, naturopathy provides holistic health without the use of drugs.
Principles of Naturopathy
- Addressing the Root Cause: Accumulation of unwanted waste matter and toxins is the main cause of any disease. Removing them by enhancing the body’s natural eliminative channels is the first and foremost step in treating the body.
- Body Heals Itself: Nature provides the necessary resources for healing, such as food, herbs, water, and sunlight. The body can heal itself if these resources are used appropriately.
- Understanding the Nature of Disease: Symptoms are only manifestations of disease. Understanding the symptoms and supporting the body is important, rather than suppressing them with drugs.
- Treat the Whole Person: Focusing on the person as a whole — mind, body, and spirit — rather than just treating individual symptoms or conditions.
- Prevention: Naturopathy emphasizes the importance of preventive care and maintaining a balanced, healthy lifestyle to avoid illness before it happens.
- Will to Get Well: Whatever type of therapy may be given, one’s own willpower is crucial in the journey of complete healing.

These are simple lifestyle tips that can be incorporated into daily life for better health.
How Naturopathy and Yoga Work Together in Chronic Diseases and Cancer
While naturopathy and yoga come from different traditions, they share many complementary principles, and their practices can work well together to improve overall health and wellness.
- Holistic Approach: Both systems view health as a balance of body, mind, and spirit. By incorporating both practices, you can support your overall well-being on multiple levels.
- Stress Reduction: Naturopathy uses restorative therapies, while yoga employs mind-body techniques like meditation to reduce stress.
- Improved Digestion and Detoxification: Naturopathy recommends eliminative therapies such as enema, steam, and mud therapies to improve digestion. Yoga postures can stimulate the digestive system and promote detoxification.
- Pain Management: Both naturopathy and yoga are effective for managing chronic pain. Naturopathy uses natural remedies like mud and water therapies along with good nutrition, while yoga offers gentle postures, breathwork, and mindfulness techniques to relieve pain and discomfort.
- Energy Balance: Both practices aim to increase energy flow. Naturopathy focuses on optimizing nutrition and natural therapies, while yoga seeks to balance the body’s energy channels through asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques.
SIDDHA: The Science of Perfection and Holistic Healing
Siddha medicine, one of the oldest systems of traditional healing, originated in Tamil Nadu, South India. Rooted in the wisdom of the ancient sages, or Siddhars, this holistic practice integrates medicine, spirituality, and alchemy to promote well-being. The term “Siddha” derives from the Tamil word Siddhi (சித்தி), meaning “attainment” or “perfection,” signifying mastery over body, mind, and spirit. This system emphasizes disease prevention, longevity, and self-realization through balance and natural healing.
Siddha medicine, despite its ancient roots, offers solutions for contemporary health challenges. It provides a personalized, preventive, and holistic approach to healing that complements modern medicine. Through herbal formulations, detoxification techniques, lifestyle corrections, and spiritual alignment, Siddha continues to be a beacon of health and longevity.
Core Principles of Siddha Medicine
Siddha medicine operates on the principle of the Pancha Mahabhutas (Five Great Elements):
- Prithvi (Earth) – Structural component; governs stability.
- Apas/Jala (Water) – Governs fluid balance and circulation.
- Tejas/Agni (Fire) – Manages digestion, metabolism, and energy.
- Vayu (Air) – Regulates movement and nervous system functions.
- Akasha (Ether/Space) – Influences expansion, consciousness, and sensation.
These elements interact within the body as three fundamental humors or Doshas (Mukkutram):
- Vata (Vayu + Akasha) – Governs movement, nervous functions, and circulation.
- Pitta (Agni + Jala) – Manages digestion, metabolism, and heat.
- Kapha (Prithvi + Jala) – Ensures stability, lubrication, and immunity.
When these three humors are in balance, health is maintained; their disturbance leads to disease. Siddha medicine assesses an individual’s unique constitution (prakriti) to restore harmony.
Health and Disease in Siddha Tradition
According to Siddha philosophy, health is not merely the absence of disease but a state of complete physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Diseases arise when there is an imbalance in the humors, which can be influenced by diet, lifestyle, emotions, and external factors.
Spiritual and Holistic Healing
Siddha medicine emphasizes spiritual well-being as a pillar of health. The Siddhars believed that the mind, body, and soul are interconnected, and true healing comes from aligning all three. Spiritual practices integrated into treatment include:
- Pranayama (Breathing Techniques) – To regulate energy flow and mental clarity.
- Mantra Therapy – Chanting sacred sounds for healing vibrations.
- Rasavatham (Alchemy & Herbomineral Medicines) – Purifying the body with therapeutic metals and minerals.
- Meditation – Enhancing self-awareness and physical vitality.
Conditions Treated by Siddha Medicine
- Chronic Diseases – Arthritis, diabetes, and asthma.
- Skin Disorders – Eczema, psoriasis, and vitiligo.
- Digestive Ailments – Indigestion, ulcers, and constipation.
- Respiratory Issues – Sinusitis, bronchitis, and tuberculosis.
- Neurological Conditions – Paralysis, migraine, and neuropathy.
- Mental Health – Depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline.
- Detoxification & Longevity Therapies – Known as Kayakalpa, these therapies focus on rejuvenation and anti-aging.
HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine based on the principle of “like cures like” (Similia Similibus Curentur), which suggests that substances that cause symptoms in a healthy person can be used in diluted forms to treat similar symptoms in a sick person. It was developed in the late 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, who believed that the body could be healed by stimulating its own healing mechanisms with highly diluted substances.
Core Principles of Homeopathy
- Like Cures Like (Similia Similibus Curentur): This is the cornerstone of homeopathy. A substance that causes symptoms in a healthy individual can be used to treat those very symptoms in a sick person. For example, onions (which can cause watery eyes and a runny nose in healthy people) may be used to treat conditions like hay fever or the common cold with similar symptoms.
- The Law of Minimum Dose: Homeopathic remedies are typically highly diluted, often to the point where no molecules of the original substance remain. The idea is that even in these extremely diluted doses, the remedy retains a “memory” or vibration of the original substance that can stimulate the body’s healing processes without causing side effects.
- Individualization of Treatment: Homeopathic treatment is personalized, taking into account the physical, emotional, and mental state of the individual. A homeopath asks detailed questions about a person’s symptoms, lifestyle, medical history, emotional state, and preferences to find the most appropriate remedy.
- Vital Force: Homeopathy is based on the idea that all living organisms have a vital force or life energy that maintains health. When this energy is in balance, the body is healthy. When it is out of balance, disease occurs. Homeopathic remedies are believed to stimulate the vital force to restore balance and promote healing.
- Holistic Approach: Homeopathy treats the person as a whole, not just addressing the symptoms of a particular disease. In addition to physical symptoms, homeopaths consider emotional and psychological states in the treatment process. The goal is to stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities.
Homeopathy and Chronic Diseases: A Natural Approach to Long-Term Healing
How Homeopathy Helps in Chronic Diseases
- Personalized Treatment – Each patient is treated based on their unique symptoms, lifestyle, and emotional well-being.
- Holistic Approach – Homeopathy considers physical, mental, and emotional health, aiming for overall well-being.
- Minimal Side Effects – Homeopathic remedies are made from natural substances and are safe for long-term use.
- Boosts Immunity – Homeopathy strengthens the immune system, helping the body fight diseases naturally.
- Addresses Root Cause – Instead of merely suppressing symptoms, homeopathy works to eliminate the underlying cause of the disease.
ACUPUNCTURE
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that involves inserting fine needles into specific points on the body to restore balance and promote healing. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture is based on the concept of Qi (life energy) flowing through meridians. By stimulating these points, acupuncture helps regulate energy flow, ease pain, and enhance overall well-being.
While TCM views acupuncture as a way to balance Yin and Yang energies, modern research suggests it works by stimulating nerves, muscles, and connective tissues, triggering the body’s natural painkillers and enhancing circulation.
A Brief History of Acupuncture
Acupuncture dates back over 2,500 years, originating in China. Ancient texts describe its use for treating various ailments, including pain, digestive disorders, and emotional imbalances. Over the centuries, acupuncture spread across Asia and, in the 20th century, gained popularity in the West. Today, it is recognized globally as an effective complementary therapy for pain management, chronic illnesses, and wellness.
Impact on Health and Disease
In recent years, acupuncture has been increasingly recognized within mainstream healthcare due to a growing body of scientific research and clinical studies supporting its effectiveness.
- Pain Management: Effective for conditions like lower back pain, migraines, arthritis, and fibromyalgia.
- Post-Surgical and Chemotherapy Support: Helps reduce chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, poor appetite, nausea, and vomiting.
- Mental Health & Stress Relief: Supports relaxation, reducing anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
- Reproductive Health: Assists in managing menstrual cramps, fertility issues, and labor pain.
- Neurological & Respiratory Conditions: Useful for stroke rehabilitation, allergic rhinitis, and asthma.
How Acupuncture is Performed
- Needle Insertion: Sterile, hair-thin needles are inserted at specific points. Patients may feel a slight tingling or warmth.
- Needle Manipulation: The practitioner may gently twirl the needles or apply heat/electric pulses for enhanced stimulation.
- Relaxation & Removal: Needles remain for 10–20 minutes while the patient relaxes. The removal is painless.

CHEMOTHERAPY
Brief Overview
At MIHC, we believe cancer cannot be treated by a single system of medicine. We therefore integrate conventional oncology treatments — such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy — alongside other complementary treatments.
How the Treatment is Performed
- Infusions: Chemotherapy is most often given as an infusion into a vein (intravenously). The drugs can be administered by inserting a tube with a needle into a vein in the arm.
- Chemotherapy Pills: Some chemotherapy drugs can be taken in pill or capsule form.
Benefits of Chemotherapy
- To kill hidden cancer cells (Adjuvant Therapy): After other treatments, such as oncothermia, chemotherapy can be used to eliminate any cancer cells that might remain in the body.
- To prepare for other treatments (Neoadjuvant Therapy): Chemotherapy can shrink a tumor so that other treatments, such as radiation and surgery, become possible.
- To ease signs and symptoms (Palliative Chemotherapy): Chemotherapy may help relieve signs and symptoms of cancer by destroying some of the cancer cells.
